Collections Team Lead, Retail Collections

Retail Collections



Team Leads receive and make inbound and outbound calls to collect outstanding receivables. Service customer by answering general inquiries, invoice questions and addressing customer concerns. Create a positive, respectful, friendly environment among peers, superiors and customers.

Team Leads are expected to assist the supervisor in manage the daily operations of their team. They will perform a variety of tasks including the motivation, staff development, and supervision of their agents to ensure superior collections and service skills on every call. Team Leads are expected to adjust their schedules to meet the demands of the business. They are expected to maintain a positive culture in the department and drive employee engagement.

Primary Responsibilities

• Locate and notify customers of delinquent accounts by mail or telephone to solicit payment.

• Locate and monitor overdue accounts, using computers and a variety of automated systems.

• Confer with customers by telephone to determine reasons for overdue payments and to review the terms of service, or credit contracts.

• Advise customers of necessary actions and strategies for debt repayment.

• Persuade customers to pay amounts due on credit accounts, or non-payable checks.

• Arrange for debt repayment or establish repayment schedules, based on customers' financial situations.

• Record information about financial status of customers and status of collection efforts.

• Perform various administrative functions for assigned accounts, such as recording address changes and updating the records of customers.

• Trace delinquent customers to new addresses through skip tracing.

Experience and Education

• Associates degree or higher preferred

• Minimum 2 years of Call Center/Contact Center experience

• Effective self-management and proven results in collections and service skills

• Strong mentoring and relationship building skills with ability to effectively manage group and interpersonal conflict situations

• Computer Skills: Microsoft Outlook and Word with advanced Excel skills
